The give initiative

The Give Initiative

Each year we take some time during this season of giving to think about the needs in our community and around the world.  We call it the Give Initiative. It’s simple.  Hold off on a few gifts that you would buy for yourself or family, and give that money to those in need.  Or, if you do year-end giving, consider these opportunities.  This year, we’re hoping to provide 125 backpacks for foster kids, 125 backpacks for refugee families, 125 sponsorships for children in Indonesia, and $40,000 to replenish our Community Care fund.

Local - Backpacks for Foster Kids

With many kids in Iowa’s foster care system and more entering each day, NorthPoint helps to provide these kids with a special backpack to encourage them as they enter this system.  It’s simple: pick up a backpack at church, fill it with items from this list, then drop the backpack off at the church on a Sunday or during the week.

Local - Backpacks for Refugee & Immigrant Kids

Thousands of children across the world are displaced from their homes every year. When they find a more permanent home, like Central Iowa, they arrive with nothing. We want to provide them with backpacks to help ease the transition. It’s simple: pick up a backpack at church, fill it with items from this list (K-5th and 6th-12th), then drop the backpack off at the church on a Sunday or during the week.

Local - Community Care

Each year, NorthPoint provides thousands of dollars in support to those in our church and community who struggle to meet basic financial needs.  This year’s Give Initiative will help to replenish this fund so that we can continue to meet these needs.
